[19:00 CET] DiEM TV Christmas Special: No Tech for Apartheid — with Ariel Koren, Bathool Syed and Maja Pelevic

In this DiEM TV Christmas Special, Bathool Syed and Ariel Koren talk about the campaign of Amazon and Google workers against “project Nimbus” — a 1,2 billion dollar contract that the companies signed with the Israeli government to sell them cloud space and dangerous technology that they can use against the Palestinians in the future.

They also discuss the importance of changing the system within, refusing to engage in problematic contracts in their companies and the possibility of making technologies work for the good of humanity, not for surveillance, military purposes and war.

[19:00 CET] DiEM TV Christmas Special: All I want for Christmas is Postcapitalism: mέta, a think tank for DiEM25, MERA25 and the Progressive International

mέta, our Centre for Postcapitalist Civilisation (https://metacpc.org/en/), was officially launched in May 2020 as the Athens-based think tank supporting the work of DiEM25, MERA25 and the Progressive International.

Said otherwise: “We live in postcapitalist times. They may turn out dystopic, utopic or anything in between. Through art and research, argument and poetry, mέta works to break with a dystopic present to imagine the world anew – to grasp our present historical moment so as to help radical progressive movements find a path from the emergent dismal postcapitalism to one worth fighting, and living, for.”

In this Christmas special with DiEM TV, mέta’s academic director Sotiris Mitralexis presents what we’ve done so far and how we are planning to take the discussion further in the immediate future – and at a time when…mέta is not the only ‘meta’ in the neighbourhood, following the announcement of Mark Zuckerberg’s dystopic nightmare of a vision.

Sunday, December 19

[19:00 CET] DiEM TV Christmas Special: I Often Dream of a Revolution — with Olga Dimitrijević and Maja Pelević

In this DiEM TV Christmas Special, Olga Dimitrijević and Maja Pelević talk about rebellious women who fight for a radical (eco)feminist socialist revolution and why the struggle against capitalism also has to be a struggle against patriarchy, privatisation and the eradication of workers rights.

They also discuss the transformation of arts and culture during the pandemic, why freedom is the most expensive capitalist word, and how trees can teach us solidarity.

In this DiEM TV Christmas Special, Yanis Varoufakis talks with renowned philosopher and DiEM25 Advisory Panel member, Noam Chomsky, about the radical lessons learned from 2021, and what hope there is for the future.
