DiEM25 condemns Trump and Netanyahu’s sinister plan for Gaza

DiEM25 condemns Donald Trump’s latest declaration: a shocking proposal to seize control of the Gaza Strip and forcibly expel its Palestinian inhabitants to neighbouring countries. Announced at a White House press conference alongside Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump’s remarks signal a new level of brutality in the ongoing destruction of Palestine.

The US president’s plan tramples on the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people while escalating tensions in an already volatile region. Gaza, battered by relentless bombardment and siege, now faces the grim prospect of complete erasure. Trump’s words – delivered with Netanyahu’s unwavering support – should serve as a wake-up call for all who oppose imperialism and ethnic cleansing.

A genocidal vision

The proposal to “level” Gaza and deport its residents to Jordan and Egypt is a blatant endorsement of ethnic cleansing. It violates international law, human rights, and basic morality. The international community must reject this horrific plan and recognise the far-reaching consequences of allowing such discourse to go unchallenged.

Trump and Netanyahu’s meeting was not just a diplomatic exchange – it cemented a dangerous alliance that prioritises expansionism over justice. Netanyahu’s eager embrace of this proposal further proves his government’s ruthless agenda, which seeks to erase Palestinian identity and sovereignty under the guise of security and geopolitical strategy.

The EU and US: Complicit in genocide

DiEM25 strongly condemns the European Union and the United States for their continued support of Israel’s genocidal campaign against Palestinians. The EU’s silence and complicity, alongside the US’s unwavering military and financial backing, directly enable the systematic oppression and destruction of the Palestinian people. This unconditional support for Israel’s crimes must end immediately, and those responsible must be held accountable. The global community must demand that the EU and the US cease their complicity and work toward a just resolution rooted in human rights and international law.

Resistance and solidarity

DiEM25 stands unequivocally against all attempts to strip Palestinians of their homeland and dignity. We reaffirm our commitment to the Single Democratic Secular State solution – a vision of coexistence where Palestinians and Israelis share the land as equals. This is the only viable alternative to apartheid, occupation, and displacement.

Moreover, our movement has formally endorsed the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Movement, recognising it as a crucial tool in the fight against Israel’s ongoing settler-colonialism, apartheid, and systemic violence. Non-violent economic pressure is essential to dismantling the structures of oppression that sustain Israeli expansionism.

Now, more than ever, the world must reject the genocidal ambitions of Trump, Netanyahu, and their enablers. We must stand with the Palestinian people, amplify their voices, and demand justice. This is not just a regional crisis – it is a test of our collective moral responsibility.

The fight continues. Join us.
