MeRA25 spokesperson Michalis Kritharides has called for answers from the Greek government following the revelations that Israeli contractors, who were revealed to have manipulated more than 30 elections around the world, were active in Greece.
The Guardian published a detailed investigation on how a team led by Tal Hanan, a 50-year-old former Israeli special forces operative, used hacking, sabotage and automated disinformation on social media to sway elections, and MeRA25 now wants answers from Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government.
“What is the government’s response to the Guardian’s report on the Israeli group operating in our country to manipulate the elections?” Kritharides said.
“The Guardian’s report on the group of Israeli consultants active in our country for the manipulation of elections, with them even boasting about their “achievements” in 27 of the 33 elections they participated in, raises very serious issues.
“The Government must immediately provide concrete answers as to whether such activities are being carried out in our country and on whose behalf.
“Has Mitsotakis and co. purchased such services? Are interceptions and illegal software not enough? Or if it has not bought them, does it allow such practices of manipulating public opinion to be active? Is it not content with manipulating the press?
“Convincing answers should be given immediately to the publication of the prestigious international media and there should be an immediate investigation by the prosecution and judicial authorities.”
