Yanis Varoufakis: Israelis are not good material for making slaves. But nor are Palestinians

The right to resist enslavement is not exclusive to any people

As the openly racist Israeli government is pursuing its policy of subjugating Israel’s High Court to its whims, Israelis have been demonstrating in droves. In this context, Israeli historian Yuval Noah Harari took their side with the statement:

“Israelis are not good raw material for making slaves.”

I am glad that Israelis resist their enslavement. But I am appalled by the insinuation that they are not like the Palestinians, who Israeli, European and US public opinion have been lulled into believing are more prone to (even deserving of) slavery.
