Yanis Varoufakis’ schedule for his official visit to Cuba

DiEM25’s co-founder will take part in bilateral meetings and give speeches as part of the joint effort of the Cuban government and the Progressive International to create a new Non-Aligned Movement

Yanis Varoufakis is set to travel to Havana on January 25 for an official visit upon invitation from the Cuban government.

Representing DiEM25, MeRA25 and the Progressive International, Varoufakis will attend a series of events and discussions during his time in the country.

In addition to an exchange of views on the international economic and geopolitical situation, a key topic of discussion will be the creation of a New Non-Aligned Movement that will aim for a New International Economy.

Varoufakis will also hold a keynote speech at the 5th International Conference for World Balance, co-organised by the Cuban government and the Progressive International, among other talks.

10.30: Bilateral meeting with Cuba’s minister of finance Macy Bilianos

12.30: Bilateral meeting with the president of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba

15.30: Meeting with Cuba’s minister of foreign affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parish in the context of the visit of the Progressive International’s delegation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

18.00: Bilateral meeting with former finance minister and presidential candidate of Ecuador, Andres Arauz, on matters of internal organisation and international strategy of the Progressive International
