We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the Karlsruhe collective of MERA25 following our inaugural meeting. Although we have collaborated over the past few years, our meetings were sporadic and our efforts more solo in nature. With a renewed commitment, we are now focused on establishing a consistent and sustained presence in Karlsruhe.
In the past year we have seen a livestreamed genocide in Gaza, a troubling rise in state repression, a steady erosion of democratic values, and a surge in far-right influence, while the left has remained notably silent. The media, too, has acted as a government mouthpiece rather than as an independent watchdog. In contrast, however, we are witnessing an encouraging rise in public awareness, increasing distrust in the government, growing disdain for far-right politics, and disappointment with the lack of a cohesive response from the left.
In this challenging landscape, one voice stands firm in advocating a moral and humanistic stance on societal issues: MERA25. This principled approach is resonating with an ever-growing number of people, reflected in our steadily increasing membership. In Karlsruhe, our membership has doubled over the past year, establishing us as one of the largest collectives in Baden-Württemberg.
With new energy and growing support, our immediate priority is the upcoming election. We see this as a pivotal opportunity to advocate for human rights and confront the current political unfairness.
We invite all those who share our vision and values to join us on this important journey. Together, we can make a real difference and work toward a fairer, more just society for all.
