Building MERA25 Netherlands: A new political alternative

Members of DiEM25 in The Netherlands kicked off their plans for 2025 last weekend in Utrecht. The main topic was the aim to launch DiEM25’s political party, MERA25, in the Netherlands

Most of the people present at the DiEM25 in The Netherlands gathering in Utrecht last weekend agreed that a true leftist and transnational alternative is needed to meet the scale of the problems we’re currently facing; from climate change to rapid militarisation across the continent.

Members had a lively discussion. There was despair and anger about the recent fascist and authoritarian developments in the world. These feelings motivated the discussion about the bolts and nuts of launching a transnational political party that can challenge these forces and provide hope in the Netherlands. By the end of the event, the majority of the members in attendance signed up for a working group that will lay the foundation for launching that party: MERA25 Netherlands.

A political party for you and by you

Do you also think the Netherlands needs a political party that meets the scale of the crises we’re in and has the solutions that address their root causes instead of kicking the can down the road to maintain the status quo? Join the MERA25 Netherlands Working Group that was created this weekend and do your part. We need as many hands as possible to build this party. Only together we can make this happen!
