Lucille Cornelius to represent DiEM25 at Actifest in the Netherlands: Art, activism and solidarity

DiEM25’s Lucille Cornelius will host a key panel on global solidarity at Actifest, alongside leading voices in activism and culture

DiEM25 will take part in Actifest on May 9, a multidisciplinary gathering in the Netherlands that brings together activists, artists and organisers committed to social change. The event is organised by the Art Collective for Peace and aims to create a shared space for dialogue, creativity and collective action.

Representing DiEM25 will be Lucille Cornelius, who will host a panel discussion on Global Solidarity at 19:30 CET. The session will explore the role of grassroots movements and collective action in shaping a more just and equitable future.

The panel will also feature writer and activist Ruth Daniel, alongside DiEM25 member and Iranian-born physicist Sima Asvadi. Together, they will reflect on how communities can organise across borders and disciplines to confront today’s interconnected crises.

Speaking ahead of the event, Cornelius emphasised the urgency of building collective power: “We need to organise in large numbers using alternative methods of communication, and move away from technogarchs. We need the thinkers and solutionists within our communities to rise to the occasion—the artists, the poets, the wordsmiths. If not you, then who? If not now, then when? I call for local, national and international solidarity.”

Full ActiFest schedule

Actifest will feature a diverse programme of panels and discussions, including sessions on Sudan, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, and the role of technology in resistance. Journalists and filmmakers will also contribute perspectives on media accountability and the challenges of reporting in times of crisis.

DiEM25 will be joined by a range of organisations, including Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, and SOMO, among others.

With its combination of political discussion, cultural expression and community-building, Actifest offers an opportunity to connect movements and strengthen the networks needed to drive meaningful change.
