MERA25 cordially invites journalists to a groundbreaking event to discuss the most pressing questions of left-wing politics in Germany.
The event will take place on 1 December 2024 from 13:00 to 16:00 at the Berlin Global Village. Journalists and interested parties are invited to register here:
Germany is facing a political turning point in 2024. Migration policy is drifting to the right, labour parties are losing their relevance, and despite more than a year of anti-war protests, there are hardly any tangible successes. While the traffic light coalition continues to fail and the climate crisis progresses, we are also witnessing how left-wing forces are increasingly giving up on themselves.
With a view to the 2025 federal elections, urgent questions arise: What radical left-wing policies does Germany need to stand up to the shift to the right? How can we organise ourselves politically, in cooperatives and movements from below? What needs to change so that migrant movements can come together and international politics can also function at a local level? And above all: How can we establish genuine left-wing climate policy and politically empower people with insecure status?
These and other questions will be explored in an exciting panel discussion. Journalists will have the opportunity to ask their own questions and get to know three of our candidates for the 2025 federal elections.
Marie-Alice Morel (LL.M.) board member and Bundestag candidate MERA25 Berlin, will introduce the event. Afterwards, Daniel Bratanovic, editor-in-chief of Junge Welt and moderator, Elisa Baş, activist for anti-colonial and anti-capitalist climate justice, Johannes Fehr, organiser for DiEM25 and Bundestag candidate for MERA25 Berlin, and Melanie Schweizer, fully qualified lawyer and MERA25 Bundestag candidate, will discuss on the podium.
