Varoufakis: We are moving forward with the permanent goal of unifying the Radical Left

Yanis Varoufakis spoke about MERA25’s campaign and how the party will move forward after the European Election results were revealed on June 9

We live in a Europe where neofascism and absenteeism are on the rise – a combination that allows the oligarchs to plunder.

Amidst this turmoil, our unifying initiative ‘MERA25 | Subversive Ecological Left’ has maintained our numbers at home while emerging as a second force among the expatriates – where the channels of the oligarchs do not reach.

They thought they had wiped us out. But the citizens strengthened the faction of responsible disobedience – the only unifying initiative of the left.

MERA25 | Subversive Ecological Left went through fire and came out galvanized.

What I can tell you with certainty now is that we will honour the citizens’ mandate to move forward with our unifying effort.

Tonight, I call on all the forces of the Radical Ecological Left that were not with us today to join us so that, while preserving our differences, we can respond to the yearning of the people of the Left and Ecology for united, militant unity on the basis of common values and a common programme.

Tomorrow I will propose to the General Assembly of MERA25 the creation of a permanent coordinating body in which all the forces that together we formed MERA25 | Revolutionary Ecological Left and, of course, all the forces that will join us tomorrow will participate.

Something beautiful started again today. In Greece.

We have built something small but with great potential. From tomorrow we will continue growing. Together. Uniting.

We move forward.
