Yanis Varoufakis and Melanie Schweizer chart a new path for Germany at Munich event

The pair ignited the crowd at the ‘Solidarity: A Radical Utopia’ event

On February 14, while the global establishment gathered at the Munich Security Conference to discuss security through walls, weapons, and wealth accumulation, MERA25 staged a radically different vision of security at ‘Solidarity: A Radical Utopia’ in Munich. The event featured DiEM25 co-founder Yanis Varoufakis and Melanie Schweizer, MERA25’s lead candidate for the upcoming German federal election. It was hosted and moderated by Ramona R. Münchnerin⁩ and Lucie Kirstein.

In a world dominated by fear, division, and militarism, Varoufakis and Schweizer presented a compelling alternative: a Germany where security is rooted in solidarity, not weaponry; in prosperity for all, not privilege for the few. They laid out bold, practical strategies to dismantle the structures of inequality, confront the rising tide of fascism, and breathe new life into democracy.

The audience responded with passion. Questions, ideas, and shared visions filled the room as people engaged in a genuine dialogue about reclaiming politics from the establishment. This was no passive crowd; it was a community united by a common conviction: another world is possible.

As the evening concluded, the call to action was clear: the status quo will not dismantle itself. Only through collective courage and solidarity can we build a future that serves the many, not the few. The air was electric with renewed determination to continue the struggle for a democratic, just, and peaceful Europe.

This event was more than a discussion; it was a declaration. A testament to the power of solidarity in an age of fragmentation. And a reminder that when we stand together, radical utopias can become tangible realities.

With the German elections coming up, MERA25 is stronger than ever.

The full video of the event will be out soon!
