DiEM25 co-founder Yanis Varoufakis will join MERA25 Germany in Munich from February 14 to 16 to participate in the Antisiko demonstration, a counter-movement organised by the Action Alliance Against the NATO Security Conference 2025.
This visit highlights MERA25 Germany’s growing efforts to challenge the political status quo as it campaigns in the federal elections scheduled for February 23. As fascism and militarism threaten European democracies and social welfare, MERA25 stands firm in its mission for a progressive, peaceful, and democratic Europe. The party is on the ballot in Berlin, Bremen, and Nordrhein-Westfalen, aiming to secure at least five percent of the vote and gain representation in the Bundestag.
Varoufakis will kick off his visit on Friday, February 14, by participating in a roundtable discussion titled Make Love, Not War, alongside top MERA25 candidate Melanie Schweizer. The discussion will be held at KKV Hansa Haus in Munich at 19:30 CET.
On Saturday, February 15, he will join the Antisiko demonstration and deliver a keynote speech at 15:00 CET at Marienplatz. His speech will focus on DiEM25’s vision for European security and its stance on NATO, offering a sharp critique of the current geopolitical landscape.
The Antisiko demonstration coincides with the Munich Security Conference, which gathers politicians, military officials, arms dealers, and corporate executives. While the elite summit focuses on securing capital and power, the Antisiko movement provides a powerful counter-narrative – advocating for the security and peaceful coexistence of people over profit-driven militarism.
Yanis Varoufakis and MERA25 Germany invite everyone who envisions a brighter, more just Europe to join them in Munich for this crucial stand against militarism and inequality.
