A New Party for Peace and Solidarity: MERA25 Netherlands is Here

The Netherlands has a new political party: MERA25, the political wing of the pan-European movement DiEM25. As of today, the International Day of Peace, MERA25 Netherlands is officially active. We have a clear mission: to set our country on a radically different course.

What we stand for

MERA25 Netherlands stands for radical democracy, social justice, sustainability, peace, and international solidarity. We are committed to building a society where every person counts, where the economy serves the community, and where political power truly lies in the hands of citizens.

Why now?

Current politics is failing to address the great challenges of our time. The Netherlands stands at a crossroads. While inequality grows, wars rage, and the climate crisis escalates, The Hague clings to a system and a way of governing that polarizes and leaves people insecure. Meanwhile, our democracy is being hollowed out, with financial and technocratic elites gaining ever more control over our daily lives and wielding more influence than citizens themselves.

A bold new voice

MERA25 Netherlands therefore calls for a radical change of course: a society built on solidarity, peace, sustainability, and genuine democratic renewal.

We are part of DiEM25 (Democracy in Europe Movement 2025), a grassroots movement active across Europe. Together, we are working towards a fairer, greener, and more democratic Netherlands and Europe, where citizens have more power than lobbies and multinationals.

MERA25 Netherlands stands for a politics that brings back hope and imagination into our country. We refuse to accept the logic of fear, division, and neoliberal technocracy. We choose a new course: democratic, peaceful, sustainable, and built on solidarity. From the Netherlands, in Europe, and with the world.
